What Students Are Saying About the Internship
Throughout my experience with College Works Painting I have learned more than I would in any other internship setting. Usual internships are full of paperwork, uncomfortable clothes, and disgruntled people. While at some pointed during the summer I did deal with disgruntled employees and clients, no other internship would have taught me how to effectively handle and resolve such situations.
Eduardo Porto (Branch Manager 2012)
Most internships out there are straight up just work. College Works made sure that they implemented fun activities for their interns and I really appreciated that.
Donovan Lowkeen (University of California, Irvine)
I entered the program as an inexperienced but eager freshman at the University of California, Irvine. I was extremely excited to be a part of a program that has the capacity to develop essential business skills like management, leadership, communication, and organization.
Zack Milbourn (University of Massachusetts)
I wholeheartedly recommend taking on the College Works internship to anyone looking to challenge themselves, anyone who wants more out of their summer that what most college students do in between semesters.
Kyla Hunts (University of California, Irvine)
I became an intern for College Works my junior year after being introduced to the program by Therese and hired by Rob. Throughout the interviewing process I became aware that this experience would be the most challenging and rewarding one of my college career.
Steve Lanzi (Sacramento State)
Aside from the skills I learned, the overall experience built my confidence and taught me how to deal with stress. Although this program was difficult at times, it made me a stronger person. Another major thing I got out of the internship is a whole new network of people that are motivated, hard workers with lots of potential.
Brett Tobin (University of Massachusetts, Amherst)
Sticking with the internship and pushing through the hard times are what have helped me gain the experience that I have. Success started to come with the hard work that I put in.
Jeremy George (University of California, San Diego)
In my first year at UC San Diego, under the mentorship of Rob, I developed and executed a business and marketing plan, built relationships with over 35 clients, managed 12 employees and ultimately ran a $95,000 business.
Kevin Kankel (University of California, Davis)
At the end of the day, I'd definitely recommend this program for anyone who wants to see success later on in life. Through all the life lessons I've learned, skills I've built and friends I've made, this has been a life-changing experience. Thank you all so much for the experience you helped me to get; this is something I know will help me out so much in my own ventures.
Kayleen Feeney (San Francisco State University)
I did not know College Works' company culture was not only an environment for learning but for an opportunity for networking. I have met and built the best relationships with other college students as well as many executives.
Vivian Teran (California State University Long Beach)
At 19 I already have developed skills that most 30 year olds are still trying to figure out. This program along with the support of my Regional Consultant has given me the tools to be successful in my future endeavors and put me ahead of the learning curve when it comes to being a well paying career...
Brandon Leafman (UC San Diego)
I now have the experience and skills to stand above the rest of my peers and recruiters from companies like Google and Morgan Stanley have already expressed an interest in hiring me even though I am still a year away from graduation.
Ben Toney (Branch Manager, Centerville and Bountiful Area)
I learned a great deal about myself from the experience that I never knew before. I learned how to manage my time, how to delegate responsibilities, resolve conflict, lead from the front, and control profit. I imagine that for the rest of my life, I will still be drawing from the lessons that I learned.
Samuel West (Branch Manager 2008)
Anybody willing to participate and take this program on to the fullest extent has every reason to give it a shot. There are few ways to learn these lessons this early in life.
James Reid (Utah - 2008)
They don't tell you to do things a certain way or anything. They give guidelines and let you figure it out from there, which I personally think helped this program be so great and let the interns develop, learn and grow at a much higher level.
Mark A. Tefteller (MBA Class of 2009)
I urge you without reservation to take advantage of this opportunity to grow in one of the premier learning experiences that I have had in my life.
Justin Tolman (Utah State University)
I learned skills that are all in the field of interviewing, hiring employees, sales, marketing techniques, customer relations, quality control, public speaking, projecting success through a plan and executing it, and much, much more.
I am sure the things I learned during this internship will serve me well throughout the rest of my life.
Ken Shin (BYU)
[The internship] stretched me and helped me realize my true potential as an individual and as a business person.
David Roderick (BYU)
I ran marketing crews to help me find houses to paint, managed crews of painters to get the work done, and ended the summer with many customers that were happy to give me reference letters.
Trevor Thomas Summer 2010
I achieved and gained more than what I was expecting...
Matt Stevens Summer 2006
It is a value based business that taught me that business is not just about making money, it has a lot to do with relationships between colleagues and customers that is a foundation for success.
Darin Canova University of Utah
I feel like I have leaped ahead of the people that I grew up with, graduated from high school with and am currently attending college with.
Brooke Dimond Summer 2010
When I first started I was really shocked College Works wanted to invest their time to help me grow as a person. They have helped me realize that I am worth it. My favorite part about College Works is the people you work with and the relationships you build.
Kevin Grow Summer 2008
In addition to learning how to run a clean and quality business, I learned many things important to balancing the rest of my life at the same time.
I don't think that anyone can put a price tag on the experience they gained through CWP.
James Harris Summer 2009
I definitely recommend College Works Painting
